M.R.S. radio used to assist a vulnerable adult

An M.R.S. Communications radio has recently been used to successfully support a vulnerable adult in St Austell, Cornwall.

On 8th August 2019, a retailer in St Austell requested assistance from the local BID to help a disoriented gentleman locate his parked car. Having described his car and where he thought it was parked, the BID manager used an M.R.S. radio to communicate with local radio users in an attempt to locate the vehicle.

Unfortunately, none of the local retailers were able to spot the vehicle. So, with the help of communication from radio users who had access to CCTV footage of the area, they accessed the town cameras to look in various car parks and roads to locate the vehicle. The BID manager drove the gentleman around town to try whilst continually receiving updates via the communications system.

Approximately 20 minutes later, the vehicle was located and the gentleman was reunited, feeling very grateful for the help and support of the local community during a confusing and distressing time.

David Horton, Managing Director at M.R.S. Communications, comments:

“We are delighted to hear that our radios have been used to support a vulnerable adult. People often think of a radio system as a means to prevent crime, which of course it is, but it clearly has other uses too. This incident proves how useful and versatile an effective communications system can be, and we are extremely proud to have been the providers of the radios that helped this gentlemen feel safe and supported.”
